“We just do what we say we’re going to do.” Maybe not the catchiest slogan in the world, but if we had to choose one, maybe it would be this?
Slogans and taglines are all around us, and I am reliably informed that they are a vital piece of the marketing jigsaw, giving customers and potential customers a snapshot of the values you place on your business and in everything you do. From clever plays on words, through inspirational phrases to the downright cheesy, slogans and taglines are hard to avoid and play a major role in our lives.
But for some reason when we started UtilityClick, we never really considered adding one. I think that was the right choice. Looking back, I’m glad we didn’t – after all, how can you really attach a slogan to your brand or product when it hasn’t been developed yet? Promising excellent service, a top-notch piece of software or a proven track record by means of a few carefully chosen words seems like a bit of a lie when you are yet to build customer base and reputation as a new player.
We’ve toyed with the idea a few times, and even tested a few in blog articles and social media posts. In truth, they never really felt worthy of our customers and the passion we have to provide our services.
But I was writing a DocuSign marketing mail-out just the other day – and by adding content about the integration we’ve built for signing LOA and Supplier Contracts, I found myself impressed as to the work we do day in / day out on some of these great new features.
Not that the addition to the system is revolutionary or unexpected, but simply because we’ve added another feature we said we were going to add, right from day one. I thought back to the list of customers we’ve sat in front of – promising DocuSign capabilities in the future – and can say with some pride that we went and we did it. Just like everything else we’ve built in the system so far.
So, whilst it may not end up being UtilityClick’s slogan, it’s certainly something we’ll repeat with customers and future customers for years to come – safe in the knowledge that it’s 100% true.
