If Santa was a developer, he’d approve of our plans for December. We’re cramming in a whole host of improvements as bit of a Yuletide thank you!
The Xmas carols are unavoidable, the snow has arrived and it’s now impossible to deny that the time of giving and goodwill is almost upon us once again. It’s also a time to take a step back from the bustle of everyday work and have a much needed period of reflection and battery recharging before settling into a new year of challenges.
The utilities sector naturally quietens down over the next few weeks, as more and more business consumer decisions are pushed back into the new year. For some, this means a slice of well deserved time off – in fact, a few of our customers shut down almost entirely in the last two weeks of the year. For others, this period of respite gives us all a chance to dot a few I’s, cross a few T’s and get all those bits of admin done which we’ve just not had the time to slot into our schedules.
As you’ll know from previous blogs, we’re at the tail end of a huge infrastructure improvement cycle which we’re finalising in December, and we’re about to embark upon major improvements to two modules: Commissions and Consumer Portal (very exciting!).
But the Christmas period provides another opportunity. An opportunity to dive into the vast canyon of customer development requests – little bits and bobs which improve the usability of the UtilityClick system, boost the efficiency of our customers in their day to day operations, and add flexibility to the software. So that’s exactly what we’re doing.
We’re not talking about revolutionary changes here. After all, in January and February we’re focusing on the big module improvements I’ve mentioned above. But time we have available for the rest of December (when we’re not eating mince pies) will be invested in up to 30 small modifications. We’re thinking of it as a gift to our loyal customers. A thank you for the commitment placed in us, and the respect we have for the feedback and encouragement we receive every day.
So if you’re already a subscriber – look out for a special Christmas ‘New Features’ email heading your way – will bells on!
