Make sure your data is only accessed by those who should!
Last week I wrote about GDPR, and how we at UtilityClick have been preparing. And as an energy broker, it’s super-important that you’re aware of the legislation and have put your procedures and processes in place to deal with potential queries from data subjects (that’s a fancy expression for ‘people’ in the world of data privacy). After all, energy brokers deal with mountains of personal data – names, addresses, phone numbers – you name it.
We have added a number of features and tools to make sure that the data you enter into the system is easily retrievable (i.e. can be searched and queried to find the data quickly), can quickly be edited at the request of your customers, downloaded in GDPR-friendly CSV format, and deleted altogether if necessary. These processes help you to protect the rights of your customers, particularly the Right of Access, Right of Rectification and Right of Erasure which are terms you are no doubt already familiar with if you’ve had your head in legislation like me!
It’s equally as important to prevent unauthorised access to the data altogether. And that’s why – as standard with our Analytics product – we provide IP address whitelisting. Provide us with the IP addresses of your office(s) and access to the portal can be restricted for anyone but your trusty co-workers. We also offer this as a bolt-on for our Instant Quote and Procure CRM products too, for a small monthly fee. Setting up the whitelist takes minutes, and means that data access can be limited to employees physically located in your premises, and makes it harder to take data out of the confines of your organisation.
Just another service we provide as part of the package. You’re welcome!
