We’re sorry DocuSign – we’ve neglected you for far too long. It’s time to do something about that!
When we started building UtilityClick, there were a number of key features we knew would be key in penetrating the software market in the utilities industry. The buzz words flying around UC HQ back in the day were: ‘Cloud’, ‘Scalability’, ‘Multi-site’, ‘Customer Portal’, ‘Automatic Contract Generation’, ‘Corporate Tendering’ to name but a handful. A set of tools which would be critical in producing a suite of software to dutifully service the energy brokers and consultants of this world. Tools which – quite astonishingly – seemed to be almost entirely lacking from the choice of software options out there.
We built some of these early on. Others were added onto our tool belt in later months, and all of the above have had their leading edges sharpened and their pointy ends made more pointy as the months have progressed, our customer base has grown and the system has expanded into a full end-to-end solution. And whilst I regularly blog about the volume of excellent and fresh suggestions we receive from our customers on a without-fail daily basis, believe it or not there are still a handful of items which we’ve wanted from the start, but never got round (or – being completely honest – never had the guts) to push ahead with and develop.
One of these items is – as you probably guessed from the title – DocuSign. Yes, the obvious addition to any pricing system has eluded us so far. Firstly, we needed to add automatic contract generation. Well – we’ve done that. Secondly, a customer portal to give end customers the access they needed to contract documentation. Hmm yep – that’s been there for a while. And thirdly…ok, there is no thirdly. To be completely transparent, we’ve really just let this one pass us by – engrossed in all the other exciting changes we’ve implemented.
But it’s time to deal with the elephant in the room (that room being the UC office), and get DocuSign well and truly integrated into the system. And about time too! Before they know what’s hit them, our brokers will be pinging out automatically-generated contracts to their customers for instant online signatures and two-way signing feedback. This is one feature I’m really looking forward to going live. Another step in the process, another string to the UC bow, and another win for our customers. Huzzah!
